It’s time for Nature!

01/06/2020

As World Environment Day approaches on Friday June 5th, there are many activities and challenges that you might like. Here’s a selection.

World Environment Day Quiz via UNEP – the focus is on biodiversity

The UN has helpfully provided a biodiversity quiz to help us prepare for World Environment Day on Friday.  There’s useful feedback on your responses as you go through the test (sorry, quiz).  You’ll have to keep your own score as you go along, as the site doesn’t tell you how badly you did.  We reckon that 50% is a good score in a quiz where the questions are random and the pool of knowledge so huge.  (Source – NAEE UK)

30 Days Wild Challenge – created by Lucy McRoberts

This June, join thousands of people taking part in our annual nature challenge, 30 Days Wild! We want you to do one wild thing a day throughout the whole month: for your health, wellbeing and for the planet. That’s 30 simple, fun and exciting Random Acts of Wildness.

You’ll get a free, downloadable pack of goodies to help you plan your wild month, plus lots of ideas to inspire you to stay wild all throughout June (and beyond!). For extra ‘bonus’ items, keep an eye on your emails for additional, fun activities, from instructions for baking hedgehog cupcakes to a beginner’s guide to wildlife photography.

#BlackBirdersWeek, and it will take place from Sunday, May 31, through Friday, June 5. Anyone who is interested should follow the hashtag #BlackBirdersWeek on Twitterand Instagram.

Activities will begin on Sunday with #BlackInNature “to celebrate Black nature enthusiasts everywhere.” A two-hour Q&A on Twitter with the hashtag #AskABlackBirder is also slated.

Finally, my Books section is growing with great nature books from Green Teacher and 365 Days Wild

As always, we are keen to hear from you about nature activities or this website
